Congratulations on your decision to be baptized at New Life Christian Center. We view water baptism as one of two ordinances instituted by Christ, the other being Communion. It is a public declaration of a believer's faith in Jesus Christ and symbolizes the believer's identification with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. It's a command given by Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20 and demonstrated throughout the Acts of the Apostles. Baptism is performed by full immersion in water and is intended for those who have consciously accepted Jesus as their Savior. While baptism is not considered necessary for salvation, it is an important step of obedience and a testimony of faith.
